Dive Trip Calendar

Central Sulawesi, Indonesia

Date: 6 March 2016 to 12 March 2016
Details:

Join us for a week of peace and tranquility, far from the tourist crowds, in a truly unspoiled part of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. We will be staying at The Prince John Dive Resort situated on the west coast, one hours drive from the airport of Palu.  Whether you want scuba diving or dolphin watching or to explore the amazing nature of one of UNESCO’s oldest biosphere reservations, this trip has something for you.  Oh, and did I forget to mention - according to NASA - this trip is set to coincide with a total eclipe of the sun on 9th March 2016.

Indonesia is the earth’s fourth biggest country and the world’s biggest insular state. Comprising a total surface of 189,200 km², Sulawesi is Indonesia’s fourth biggest island with a coastline of more than 80,000 km. 15 percent of the world’s coral reefs belong to Indonesia. This is why this region is among the earth’s most beautiful and attractive diving areas.

For divers there is a variety of dive sites. In front of the resort is the house reef rich in bio-diversity and great for night dives. Within 10 minutes by dive boat you will reach underwater mounts, walls and wrecks where you have the chance to see turtles, reef sharks, bumphead parrotfish, big groupers, and an amazing diversity of fish and invertebrates in what is one of the most bio-diverse coral reefs in the world.

For nature lovers, a few miles southeast of the provincial capital Palu, you will reach the Lore-Lindu National Park with a surface area of 250,000 hectares, which has been a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1978.  Mainly consisting of tropical mountain forest, the National Park includes a fascinating multitude of flora and fauna: more than 2,000 different plants, more than 220 bird and about 30 butterfly species.

Domestic flights to Palu (PLW) via Jakarta (CGK), Balikpapan (BPN), Makassar (UPG), or Denpasar (DPS).  International flights into Jakarta or Singapore.  Why not break your journey and combine this trip with a visit to Bali, Bangkok, or the famous temples at Yogjakarta. Contact me for more details on these options.
