Palau is frequently referred as one the top dive destinations in the world - both for it's wrecks but also for the incredible marine and big fish encounters. With a huge shark sanctuary as well as years of protection (instead of fishing) - this is a perfect place for underwater encounters. Eagle Rays, Manta Rays, Turtles, Jacks, Barracuda and hundreds of other species are easily found.  And lets not forget the coral! Palau is home to one of the world's largest coral ecosystems. Featuring incredible hard and soft coral, this makes for some sumptuous diving.

Not to mention the lakes!  In between the rock islands are some of the most amazing lakes in the world. These are home to unique and strange animals. Of course the most famous of all is Jellyfish lake. Home to millions of non-stinging jellyfish - this makes for a truly memorable visit.

A breathtaking Pacific paradise, Palau has been aptly named, "The Rainbow's End". It is made up of over 250 islands, though the entire population of 20,000 lives on only a handful of those islands.  This rare collection of limestone islands (pictured above), are called the Rock Islands. These are a gorgeous group of randomly-shaped outcroppings. Most of them are so small they only hold some bushes and maybe a couple of trees; however, many of them are big enough to possess natural beaches. These are perfect spots for lunch after a snorkeling/diving expedition.

And there is yet more!  Palau is famous for its ecotourism and its conservation stance on environmental matters. It is a true paradise, and is worth a visit, simply to appreciate its unspoiled beauty.

The liveaboard runs Sunday to Sunday.  For people arriving from USA there is a convenient flight arriving and departing every Sunday with Continental Airlines via Guam.  From the western seaboard of the United States, you can hop to Hawaii, skip to Guam, then jump to Palau. For a scenic island route, you can do an island hop across Micronesia to Palau.

There are daily connections to and from to Guam from Tokyo, USA, and other metropolitan centers around the world. Continental Airlines provide daily flights from Guam to Palau and twice a week from Manila, Philippines.

In addition, there are the following scheduled airline services:- Asiana Airline from Incheon, South Korea, China Airline from Taipei, and Japan Airlines from Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.  According to current schedules none of these will get you into or out of Palau on a Sunday.  You will need to spend several nights before and after the liveaboard in Palau.  However schedules do not go up to April 2012 and additional flights may also be available nearer the time and during peak seasons.

At the moment the best option for people who wish to minimise airline travel time and cost is via Manila, Philippines with Continental Airlines.  Arrive Palau late Friday night & stay Palau 2 nights before liveaboard.  Depart Palau Tues night & stay Palau 2 nights after live-aboard.
