This will be our second visit to this location and this resort. So good we wanted to come back for more and now you can see for yourself. Pictures from the 2012 trip are in our Galleries Section Gay Asian Land Tours Two short videos Wonderful Weh Parts I and II can be seen on You Tube Scubachild
Located at the western most tip of Indonesia, Pulau Weh (Pulau = Island) has all the pre-requisites of a perfect diving location. Situated on the Andaman Sea, with the Indian Ocean to the west, and the the Malacca Strait to the east, this island is at the point where the deep nutrient-rich ocean currents from the Indian Ocean rise up to meet warm and well-lit waters: the perfect recipe for marine life. Â
![]() Fringing house reefs make it the perfect place for making extra unguided dives at any time - just walking into the sea from your bungalow as well as a great place to bring non- diving friends who enjoy snorkeling. October to April is the best season here so our trip at the end of November is perfectly timed with little chance of rain showers, water temperatures average 28 ~ 29 degrees Celsius, and visibility ranges 30m to 40m can be expected. Â
Apart from its underwater splendour, Pulau Weh is also noted for its white sandy beaches and pristine eco-system, a must see for any nature lover. To top it all off, PulahWeh is a melting pot of different cultures, and home to very friendly local people. A visit to Pulau Weh will most definitely guarantee visitors the quintessential tropical paradise experience.
To preserve this pristine eco system, the Indonesian Government has declared an estimated 60 square kilometers of inland and sea around the tropical island as wild life protection area. On and around the island are two protected areas namely, Pulau Weh Marine Park (2,600 ha) and Iboih Recreation Park (1,300 ha). Our AccomodationSpacious duplex cottages with twin and king size beds available, wall fan no air con necessary, modern bathroom with hot water shower, pantry with kettle, cups & plates, a fridge and rinsing basin, a wide wooden veranda with sliding doors, facing the sea and beach. Free wireless internet in the rooms ok for checking mail but don't expect to dowload a movie.
Food and DrinkThe resort has no restaurant and prefers to concentrate on providing accommodation and diving facilities. Close to the resort there are around 6 restaurants to choose from. There's choice of local food, general Indonesian dishes, tropical fruit salads and some basic Western food such as pancakes, sandwiches, fries and fried chicken etc. It is also possible to order other special meals beforehand, such as BBQ Fish.
Â
All meals, tea, coffee and soft drinks on one day, on average, will cost most people around 10 Euro in total (8 GBP 13 USD). For example, a Pancake, a big plate of fruit salad or an egg-cheese sandwich all costs around Rp 12:000 (0.85 GBP 1.3 USD). A Coca Cola is Rp 7.000, (50 pence, 80 cents). Local rice, vegetable, fish or chicken curry lunch or dinner costs between Rp 10.000 and Rp. 20.000 (under 1 GPB under 2 USD). A big BBQ fish dinner is between Rp. 35.000 and 60.000 (2-5 GBP 3-5 USD)
